App Review: Plant Nanny!

Hi all,

One thing we have both recently gotten into is an app for our iPhone called Plant Nanny. This app has majorly helped us to keep on track when it comes to water intake. The purpose of this app is to not only ensure you get your recommended water intake everyday but to also keep your cute, loveable plant alive.

Do we need a refresher on the benefits of water?

We’ve both gone through about 3 plants now and we find it fun to plant new ones and watch them as they grow/evolve. The plant will go through 4 levels until they completely evolve and you can move them over to your display and collect seeds from them. With these seeds you get to buy new and better/more difficult plants!

When you drink enough water you will see a message like this:

When you drink too much water you will see a message like the following which kind of annoying. I understand if I went 5 glasses over but they send this message when you just have one extra glass:

And for the tearjerkers.. here is what your plant will look like if you do not drink enough water. This one is kind of weird as that night Steph had changed her activity level from regular to active and instead of adjusting it from that day forward it adjusted it to to show that every single day the app had been used in the past the daily water intake was not met which made her rating drop from 4 stars down to 2. Check it out:

Doesn't that make you sad? Thankfully that sad face went away by 3pm of the same day!

Here is also a chart that tracks your water intake daily"

Overall this app is a lot of fun and really does help you to increase the amount of water you consume in a fun way! It kind of feels like a game. One thing we will say as a warning... be prepared to PEE!!

And to finish it off, here are some of our cute plants!:

This app can be purchased in the app store for 99 cents. We both don't normally buy apps but Steph put it this way..  "A chocolate bar is $2... a XL double double is $2. This $1 or $2 on a health app is going to go a LOT farther than a $2 treat" (addition now that I think of it: which will just find it's way to your ass!)

Hahahah!

Hope you decide to try out this app! It's fun, keeps you in check and you end up growing super cute plants! Let us know if/when you sign up :)

Thanks for reading,

Steph & Jenn

    1. It just means your plant is happy and singing a little tune(because it's happy)!

    1. It means that you are drinking water too fast and it's drowning

  8. How do you move you plant when it's fully grown? Does a message show up? My dandelion looks fully grown but I can't figure out how to move it...

    1. I don't think you can, but when I do that, I just quickly drink more water to even it out.

  10. I love this app! But I have a question, after I moved my first full grown plant to the garden it has an (18h) above it. Do you know what that means?and when and how often do I get seeds from it?

    1. That means you can harvest it's next seed in 18 hours.

    1. I realise it's been awhile since you've asked, but it might be useful also for others: you have to tap the grey area at the very bottom of the screen, this will bring up a menu showing the types of mugs you've set up. If you've already set up different types of cups/mugs earlier, they will all be shown here. You can either push one of these directly here for a longer time, which will add the cup's amount to your water intake, or if you tap one of them just once, it will let you either delete or favourite the cup - the latter will make that cup show up as the default at the bottom right of the main screen (where the plant is).

I've just recently found out this app exists, but so far I'm enjoying it a lot. It sure is a strange way to make one drink more/enough water, but it does work for me - I just can't resist the cuteness :3
Besides the cute idea and graphics, the water logger part is also very well done. It is highly adjustable, but what I especially love is that it's possible to set up several cups and mugs, and the capacity is also fully adjustable (this isn't so in all water logger apps I've tried, so I had to calculate and trick in those when I drank from a cup with different capacity) - I've customised it fully to contain every glass or mug I'm using at home or at work, which makes logging my intake very easy.

    2. can i adjust the cup/glass size throughout the day, or do i have to use the same size all day?

  12. Is there any way to reset the whole app? I was trying to figure out the app by pushing buttons but now it thinks I drank 143 oz today. Also, what time does it go to the next day? Is it midnight to midnight?

    1. Delete and reinstall and it starts over

  15. My plant is full grown but the notification didn't pop up for me to move it outside and now it's just a shovel, I don't know what to do

  16. How do I clear notifications in the flower shop?

    1. I did it by watching the ads to gain a free seed. I had eight notifications so I watched eight ads and they went away.

  18. I have downloaded and planted each of the plants in the shop and now it won't let me plant any of them again. My only option now is dandelion after dandelion.

  19. My dandelion is fully grown but I cannot transfer it to the garden.
