LaCoupe: 14 Day Brazilian Keratin Smoothing Treatment

Recently I have decided to transform my hair from dark brown (almost black on the ends) to light brown, with an ombre type effect. This process was quite extensive, I had never done so many hair treatments in the span of one week ever. As a result, I got pretty bad chemical burns on my hair, making my hair fried, mushy and breaking off. I was and still am sad that my hair broke off, because my hair was very long. My hair is still long, reaching my bra line but I lost about 4 inches off the length. I have trimmed my hair which helped, but it's still pretty unmanageable. In search for something that'll help I went out and bought some treatments, oils, and other things for my hair to try and get it strong again. Some helped but made my hair feel heavy, and kind of sticky feeling. My sister in-law know's me well and for my Christmas present she got me an assortment of different things to try, because I love testing new products. In my bag of goodies I received 'LaCoupe: 14 Day Brazilian Keratin Smoothing Treatment'. Now seemed like the perfect time more than ever to give this a try.

LaCoupe: 14 Day Brazilian Keratin Smoothing Treatment comes in a box with a small shampoo, which was just enough to cover my mane, and a 5oz bottle of the smoothing treatment. What you do is wash your hair normally with the shampoo provided, it will remove any residue that's on your hair. This shampoo doesn't lather, and it also doesn't make your hair feel gross and dry like other residue removing shampoo's I've used. Then you wrap your hair in a towel, once your hair is damp (not soaking wet) apply the smoothing treatment, and comb through. The box suggests going right to the roots, but I didn't. I also only had to use 3 toonie sizes to coat my hair nicely. Then you're supposed to let it soak in your hair for 30 minutes, I let it soak for an hour. Then blowdry your hair with a round brush or paddle brush, and go over with a straightener. This seals the hair cuticle shut.

My hair is so soft! Even people said how healthy my hair looks, and smooth. My hair is so manageable and soft, I couldn't say that before this treatment! I am now going to go buy the whole line of shampoo's and conditioners. This worked for my hair and I hope this works for yours too!

This line of hair products is exclusive to Shoppers drug mart.

Weekly Goals

Hi all,

We're back with our weekly goals!

Steph's Goal: I didn't do as well as I had hoped this week. It feels really crappy :(. I've decided this week that my goal will be to do something active (more than 15 minutes) every day this week. This means I'll either go to Zumba, do yoga, hop on the spin bike, go for a power walk or have some fun with new exercises or my kettle bell. I'll keep you all informed.. I might even check in more often just to be sure I'm staying on track

Update 1: I fell really sick late Thursday night and haven't been able to do any workouts this weekend. I'm not going to push myself to do something I have no energy for and go backwards. I will reinstate this goal next week.

Jenn's Goal: I'm going to continue with the same goal as last week. I feel that setting this as my goal really motivated me to push and get a lot done. Since our real estate agent is coming really soon, I need to put all my energy into getting this house ready.

Update 1: Yay!! I'm feeling a lot more motivated this week, and getting so much accomplished. Almost time, two more days and the house will be ready. Getting the house ready to sell is a lot more work than I originally anticipated.

Thanks for reading and have a good one!

Motivation Monday

Hello everyone,

Hope you've all had a nice weekend and were able to relax and catch up on some z's. I know I sure needed to! It's been a crazy week and I'm ready to get back into my routine.

I wanted to remind you all of something (I needed this reminder myself today actually).

Or week.. or month.. or year.

Slipping on your goals or "new years resolutions"? Revisit them and think about what you could have done differently to help yourself stay on track or stay motivated. I personally had a rough week and really struggled with my goal. I asked myself this question while driving home this morning "Why do I keep trying if I'm not willing to give it 110%? What can I do to remotivate myself and get back into the right mindset?" I started thinking about a few options and ideas to get myself back on track and I will be focusing on preplanning for the remainder of the week.

Having a rough day or feeling really down? Take a few moments for yourself and just breathe. Deep breath in.. deep breath out. Clear your mind and allow yourself to calm down a bit. Feeling stressed all the time? Think of something you can do that will relax yourself. Why not try yoga? I guarantee you could find a few free videos on youtube.

These are simple fixes.. but we look at them as huge obstacles.

Just remember that your life goes the direction you allow it to. Sometimes it doesn't feel that way but remember you have a voice .. and a choice. Choose happiness, positivity and success will follow! Allow yourself a fresh start whenever YOU see fit :).

Have a great week!!

Weekly Goals

Hi all,

Here we are again with a new weekly goal, this is our fourth consecutive week. Please refer to our past weekly goals for inspiration here: Week #1 - Week #2 - Week #3

Jenn's Goal: This week I am going to focus on staging, and de-cluttering my house. We will be putting our first home on the market in a few weeks and I have a lot of organizing to do. I have quite a bit of hidden clutter. Yikes!

Update 1: Check in Friday!
Steph's Goal: My goal for the week is to stay within my points balance and not go over.. Not even 1 point over!

Update 1: Not so good.. Yikes! This week I'm just going to focus on preplanning. I really need to kick my own ass on this one.

What I'm Wearing

Hey all,

Today's look is China Glaze - White on White. This is hands down my favourite white nailpolish, the white tone is nice and crisp with a great shine. It also does not take a very long time to dry, bonus! I bought mine from my local Sally's Beauty Supply. This nailpolish also makes for a great base coat for neon polishes, as the white brightens them beautifully.

What I'm Wearing

Hi all,

Today's look is using Sally Hansen's - Ion and Essence - Black.

This was my first time attempting almond shaped nails, I was really happy with them (although there is room for improvement, don't look too closely)! My nails are rather brittle and they broke within a couple days. I hope to try this look again really soon, if only my nails would grow faster.

If you're wanting almond shaped nails, my advice is to take your time working from side to side. Don't try and make the point perfect on one side and then going onto the other side of the nail (that was my biggest mistake). Do a bit of filing on one side and then then a little on the other side, working back and forth until the desired look is achieved.

Happy International Women's Day!

Every year on March 8th we Celebrate International Women's Day. We celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women from past, present and future.

Today I'd like you all to take a moment and think about the important women in your life. Today you should show respect and appreciation for those you love.. including yourself!  We have come a very long way since the first International Women's Day that took place in the early 1900's and we are VERY lucky that those women (and women since have) fought for our rights and our freedom. In some countries this is still a very real problem. People are still opposing this holiday.

Self love, respect and appreciation is very important and is one thing I see many, many women and young girls struggle with. Whether you are a mother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend or acquaintance.. show your love, respect and appreciation for the other women in your life today (and everyday for that matter). In some countries (27 to be exact) International Women's Day is an official holiday and in some is the equivalent to Mother's Day.

Though we still have a long way to go.. we cannot forget how far we have come! So instead of focusing on the negatives today.. remember the positives and smile. Remember that change is possible and you have the ability to make that change. Keep on fighting ladies.. keep on loving!

Thanks for reading and have a fantastic day!

What I'm Wearing

Hey all,

Today's look is Victorian Lace by Jamberry Nails.

The above picture was my first time applying nail wraps, not too shabby! ;)

Nail wraps are very new to me, and I'm really loving the different designs you can apply. Application is more lengthily and can be a difficult process, but they do tend to last longer than normal nail polish. When nail wraps start to wear down they don't chip, they start to lift. The lifting isn't obvious either which is really awesome and discrete, unlike unsightly nail polish chips.

I could never get rid of my traditional nail polish, but this is a fun change. I also like having designs that otherwise could not be achieved freehand. Nail wraps are also great for your favourite accent nail.

Nail wraps are more expensive than a bottle of nail polish, and for good reason. Jamberry is not sold in stores, I do however have a connection through family if you are interested in purchasing them.

Weekly Goals

Hi all,

Here we are again with a new weekly goal, this is our third consecutive week. Please refer to our past weekly goals for inspiration here: Week #1 - Week #2

Jenn's Goal: Track, track and track some more! My goal is to be accountable for everything I eat, it will make me more aware of what's being consumed and help me make healthier choices.

Update 1: I am doing really well with tracking, I have even been back tracking when I forgot or get busy. I like seeing and being accountable for all I'm eating, it makes me feel better about my daily food choices.

Summary: I tracked and felt good about it, this week was successful! I did however learn that sometimes I eat way under my caloric allowance, which isn't that great. I need to focus on getting the right foods into my body!
Steph's Goal: Since last week was not successful I've decided to give it another go! I will be tracking EVERYTHING I eat before I eat it! NO MATTER WHAT! I think now if I find I am not tracking I will be ordering myself to do 25 squats. Win-win!

Update 1: I've been doing extremely well compared to last week. I am actually blowing myself out of the water lol! I've only forgotten to track twice before I ate and both times I realized my mistake within 1 or 2 bites.. let out an "ohhhh sh!t!" and did my squats! Feeling motivated!

Summary: This week was a good one for me! I focused more on noticing my mistakes and correcting them immediately. Yes, I had a few moments where I forgot to track but INSTANTLY realized it and tracked right away. I would consider this week to be a success. :)

What I'm Wearing

Hey all,

This is an oldie but definitely a goodie. It is OPI's DesignerSeries in Amethyst. This polish is absolutely beautiful, it has a nice lavender shade with a slight holographic sparkle in the sun. It's so sparkly and fun! The only sad news is this is a discontinued shade, so if you're looking at purchasing this you might have to do some online shopping and searching.

Have a splendid day! :)
